Please join Nearest Truth Workshops in collaboration with Bildband Berlin as they present South African artist Pieter Hugo for a special 5-day workshop on Environmental Portraiture in Berlin. The workshop aims to address the difficulties in assessing images of people in their home environment from an outside point of view. The participants will shoot in Berlin and may bring existing work to the workshop so long as it follows the environmental portraiture theme.
The workshop takes place at Bildband Berlin in conjunction with the bookstore. The workshop will be assisted by Brad Feuerhelm of Nearest Truth with a series of lectures and feedback modules. We will also enlist outside lecturers to deliver presentations on the topic. We will have a public presentation of participant's work on the final evening which will include a book signing by Pieter Hugo.
Hugo (born 1976 in Johannesburg) is a photographic artist living in Cape Town.
His work is represented in prominent public and private collections, among them Centre Pompidou, Rijksmuesum, the Museum of Modern Art, V&A Museum, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art, J Paul Getty Museum, Walther Collection, Deutsche Börse Group, Folkwang Museum and Huis Marseille.
