Photobook Development
At Nearest Truth, we realize that not everyone wishes to take our year-long Photobook course. Some people have made books before and are less interested in developing their books over a year. We are open to collaborating on books in a shorter period. We propose a shorter-term development course for artists whose projects are closer to finished. We are open to working on projects to the need of the artist. Our rates vary depending on the needs of the project and artist.
Here is rough guide to the tiers that are available and rough price guide to our services. Please reach out if you are interested to discuss these possibilities. All prices quoted are to be paid in full before the process starts.
Editing, and Sequencing
We will collaborate with artists to develop and refine their overall sequences. We will emphasize how the book can be realized and what it might look like. We expect that artists will have completed most of their shooting. We will analyze, provide suggestions, and arrange a comprehensive edit and sequence for the project. We will work with artists to prepare the work for potential pre-design. This service can be offered on either a short-term or long-term basis.
Price 1000 Euros + VAT Payment in full is due before starting
*does not include art design, design, or production
Art Direction and Design
We will develop the photobook with design included. Lee Tesche, the in-house designer for Nearest Truth Editions, will collaborate with us on the book, guiding it from concept to production. The book will be complete up until the point of production. This does not include production; it encompasses concept, design, and art direction, as well as suggestions for printing, edition size, and potential publishing directions. Artists should be nearing the final stages of shooting for this tier.

Full Development and publishing by
Nearest Truth Editions
We will develop and publish the book for the artist with Nearest Truth Editions. In this fee, we include concept, design, art direction. The artist pays the production based on their ability and interests. We will bring the book to market art our annual Polycopies table/booth during Parisphoto in November. We will help to arrange launches with artists depending on geography. Our standard rate of commission includes 35% of the books after fees are paid. We use these books to distribute the book where possible. The artist has access to 65% of their books to resell at fairs and shops as they see fit. Artist’s applications will be reviewed by the Nearest Truth Editions Board before we accept the work. We do not take everyone. The work must be ready or close to it. The artist must be flexible to both their vision and the vision of Nearest Truth Editions. It is imperative to meet via Zoom ahead of acceptance.

Mentoring and Reviews
Mentoring is available based on the artist's needs. Sessions occur monthly, and participants may choose to attend either one or two sessions each month. Each session lasts for 1.5 hours. Mentorships are offered for durations of three, six, and twelve months. This program focuses on general work mentoring, including project development and guidance, ensuring that participants receive continuous feedback on their work. It is intended for individuals who can commit and are actively working towards completing a project.
Three months cost 500 euros plus VAT for three 2-hour sessions. This can be adjusted to meet the participant's needs.
Six months cost 1,000 euros plus VAT and include six sessions, each lasting two hours. This can be adjusted to meet participants' needs.
Twelve months cost 2000 euros plus VAT for twelve 2-hour sessions. This can be adjusted to meet participant needs.
Feedback Sessions
We offer feedback sessions that consist of two parts. Each session lasts two hours and includes a pre-session review of the work. The follow-up session must be completed within six months and lasts an additional two hours. This structure provides participants with an opportunity for follow-up to ensure continuity of feedback. It is designed for general feedback on ongoing projects that require attention, reference points, and suggestions during development. The project may be nearly finished.
300 Euros plus VAT for two sessions over six months. The sessions are spaced out to provide feedback over time. We expect participants to have their materials prepared in PDF format.
