A workshop with
Camille Vivier & Pieter Hugo

Visionary Portraiture

5-Day Workshop

Athens, Greece

November 4-8th, 2026

Nearest Truth Workshops are bringing together two incredible voices in contemporary portraiture this autumn. Camille Vivier and Pieter Hugo are two of the most respected names in portrait photography. Throughout this five-day workshop, both artists will collaborate and lead participants on a journey to create singular images, working with atypical local models in both a studio and an outdoor series of sessions. Both artists create visionary work with portraiture at its core. This will be reflected in how we proceed with sets, models, and the general setup.

We will meet daily at 11 a.m. and will work together in groups to facilitate the workshop. We will discuss the previous day’s work and prepare for the day ahead. Both artists will show their work, and you can expect a portraiture lecture from Brad filled with names and images from the history of portraiture that you may not be aware of. This will be Pieter’s third workshop with us in Athens. We have developed a plan for producing within the city, and our list of local assets has grown from agency models to working collaborators. I can personally say that Pieter’s indefatigable love of the medium makes him one of the best workshop instructors that we have ever had.

Bringing Camille Vivier into this mix is a personal dream. Both artists share an intense, unique vision of photography, and both will offer exceptional insight into making work in Athens. We will use lights and discuss image processing. This will be somewhat technical, but not overly. We suggest shooting digitally and being prepared to work with interesting people.

A note about our workshops: Our workshops are designed as experimental laboratories. We want individuals to get the most out of their experience. We often find that by remaining flexible and playing to our strengths, both inherent and found, we can use the laboratory to push our work forward. This suggests remaining flexible and setting aside your preconceived notion of how you know education models work. We prefer the flow state of making work to the rigid syllabus, the adaptable environment to the prison of unspoken expectations. Please bear in mind that you will find what you are looking for if your eyes see all the possibilities. Be prepared to make work, have a great time, and push the needle forward.

We will reserve one full scholarship for a FEMALE Greek artist living IN ATHENS. We wish

to support the local community with this seat. It is not flexible.

Limited to 12 seats.

Early Bird Roll Call (Until October 1)

875 Euros + VAT

Thereafter 975+VAT

Enrollment closes October 19.

Don’t miss out on this exceptional meeting of minds.
